Lionel Messi scores two goals including Panenka penalty to rescue Champions League win for PSG over RB Leipzig, but Kylian Mbappe’s missed penalty leaves Neymar with his head in his hands

A Lionel Messi brace saw PSG turn a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 victory in the Champions League against RB Leipzig on Tuesday night.

However, things weren’t all rosy at the final whistle as Kylian Mbappe missed a late penalty and left Neymar with his head in his hands as he watched on from the stands.

The night started brightly for PSG with Mbappe giving them the lead after only nine minutes.

Just before the half-hour mark though, Andre Silva levelled the game.

When Nordi Mukiele handed Leipzig a 57th-minute lead, headlines were already being planned which would once again question the French side’s Galactico attack.

Prior to the final 25 minutes against Leipzig, Messi had only scored one goal since signing for PSG.

He doubled this tally with a tap-in to bring PSG back on terms after being set up by Mbappe.

And then, seven minutes later, Mbappe won a penalty and earned the chance at a winning goal.

The French youngster instantly pointed to Messi though, who stepped up and took the spot kick.

Despite all the pressure, he executed an exquisite Panenka to snatch all three points for PSG.

There was an opportunity for further French glory when they were awarded a second penalty in added time.

This time Mbappe stepped up, but skied his strike well over the crossbar.

Neymar had his head in his hands as he watched on from the stands after missing out due to injury.

Regardless, the match ended 3-2 to PSG.
