
Ludhiana: The police have arrested 10 persons for gambling from different places in the city during last 24 hours. Mohammed Khursheed, resident of Kuldep Nagar, was nabbed from Bal Singh Nagar and Rs 5,600 recovered from him; Ajay Singh, resident of Bhamina Khurd, from near Shiv Mandir in Basti Mani Singh (recovery Rs 6,020), Jagdish Kumar, resident of New Kundanpuri, from near Ganda Nullah (recovery Rs 8,400), Gaurav, resident of Habib Ganj, and Taranjit Singh, resident of Gaushala Road, from near Liquor Vend in Transport Nagar (recovery Rs 2,380), Kashmiri Lal, Rajinder Singh, Surinder Singh and Rajesh Kumar, all residents of Sanjay Gandhi Colony (recovery Rs 3,060) and Bharat Bhushan, resident of Kishore Nagar, from near Greenland School, Subhash Nagar (recovery Rs 3150). All 10 persons have been booked under relevant sections of the Gambling Act. OC
Man arrested with heroin
Ludhiana: A man, Jagroop Singh, resident of Z-Mor, Shimlapuri, was arrested by the police from CRPF Colony here on Sunday with 20 gm of heroin. The police said Jagroop was coming on foot when he was stopped on suspicion by a police patrol party and contraband was found in his possession. A case under Sections 21, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against him. OC
