THANE: Four persons have been booked by Kasarwadavali police in Maharashtra's Thane district for allegedly gang-raping a 26-year-old woman in the city.
The police said that the victim worked as a waitress at a ladies orchestra bar and it was in 2019 that she came in contact with the accused identified as Govind Rajbhar, 32, from Nallasopara east.
According to the police, the accused befriended her and on the pretext of marrying her, raped her on several occasions in Ghodbunder road in Thane starting from February 1, 2019, till 30 August, 2021.
In her complaint, she alleged that the accused took Rs 7.5 lakh cash from her along with jewellery to buy a room.
“The victim alleged that he also shot a video of her in objectionable position and blackmailed and forced her into physical relations a number of times in the said period,” said a police officer from the Kasarwadavali police station.
The officer added that it was a couple of months back, that the accused along with his three other friends molested her and later gang-raped her just before the Chenna bridge in a car. The four took turns to rape her.
A police officer informed that a few months back, the victim and her accomplice were booked under section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) for attacking the accused and was subsequently arrested.
The accused also shot a video of her sister while taking a bath and also blackmailed her.
DCP Vinay Rathod said that it’s a technical case and they are investigating it from all angles. The police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused, and a female officer is investigating the case.
