LUCKNOW: The surge in dengue cases in hotspots of the city continued on Monday with 27 more people being diagnosed with the disease in the past 24 hours. This equals the single-day spike recorded on October 14.

While 26 patients were reported from hotspot areas of Aishbagh, Maal, Alambagh, Kaiserbagh, Aliganj, Indiranagar, NK Road and Sarojininagar, among others, one patient belonged to Gosainganj.
About 565 cases have been recorded in the city since September 1. A bulk of these have come from hotspot areas.
Besides, 20 suspected dengue cases came to Lokbandhu hospital. All tested positive for the disease through the card test. While 10 have been admitted because of their serious condition, the remaining were sent back home after medication.
“Samples of all 20 patients have been sent for confirmatory ELISA test,” said Dr Ajay Tripathi, director of Lokbandhu hospital.
Meanwhile, larvae of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which carries the dengue virus, were found in 21 houses in Aliganj, Rajajipuram, Gomtinagar and Balaganj during the health department’s anti-mosquito drive.
