Justice for Late Athuan Abonmai and for the people of Manipur
04th October 2021
To,
Sri N. Biren Singh
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Manipur
CM Secretariat, Imphal 795001.
Subject: Justice for Late Athuan Abonmai and for the people of Manipur.
Respected Sir,
Greetings from the office of Manipuri Diaspora Bengaluru, Karnataka (MDB)!
The Manipuri Diaspora Bengaluru (MDB), on behalf of all communities based from Bengaluru, is shocked by the brutal murder of Athuan Abonmai. We write this letter to you with the deepest condolences for the family of Athuan Abonmai and with our heads held low. Mr. Athuan Abomai, a lion-hearted leader of the state was coming to attend an inauguration function chaired by Hon’ble CM of Manipur, N. Biren Singh who is apparently Home Minister of the state, and was abducted in day broad light under the nose of security forces and subsequently murdered inhumanely.
We diaspora communities are peace-loving, sincere, hardworking and strong advocates of Law of the Land are shocked by such barbaric act. This barbaric act can only happen in a Taliban state where law of the land doesn’t exist. The Government has to act fast and fearless to instill confidence in the public that there is Law and Government in the state. Every delay will be an act of justice denied, boosting the morale of barbarian criminals.
We will also like to highlight; no development can come when such barbaric act can happen in day broad light. We strongly believe you are our true people’s leader with a focus on development hence in your regime such acts cannot be tolerated. The diaspora has been a significant contributor to the State and many are focused on bringing development to the state, hence humbly call upon the Honorable CM and Home Minister to immediately:
(a) Initiate all required criminal investigation under all relevant Laws and book all the murderers and conspirators within a clear time frame of 30 days.
(b) There cannot be any organized criminal base/Taliban base in the state, hence initiate all measures to clear any such infrastructure, as this will be the most important step for the development of the hill and on your Mission “Go to Hill”
(b) Reassure and instill confidence to the public that there is Law and Order in the State and including Hills area.
(c) Provide all required support to the family of late Athuan Abonmai and befitting State Compensation.
(d) Provide assurance in writing on the above measures for delivering justice and confidence to the deceased family and public.
No word can soothe and substitute the loss of Athuan Abonmai, all the members of MDB with the deepest sorrow, pray to the Almighty to give strength & courage to the family of Athuan Abonmai to sail through the aggrieve time and demand justice under the law.
With Deepest Sorrow,
Sincerely,
Victor Serto Kom Yambem Arun Meetei
General Secretary,
MDB President, MDB
