HYDERABAD: The Congress campaign in
Huzurabad assembly constituency got a major boost on Monday with All India Congress Committee in charge of Telangana
Manickam Tagore holding road shows and appealing to the voters to think why chief minister
K Chandrasekhar Rao is not even talking about the rising prices of petrol, diesel and LPG gas.
Stating that the main contest in Huzurabad is between the Congress and BJP, he said both the TRS and BJP have a tacit understanding. The two parties are good friends in Delhi. The TRS has supported the BJP government at the Centre in passing almost every Bill in the Parliament. Both the TRS and BJP governments have failed to give jobs to the youth in the last seven years, he said.
Stating that there is an unemployed youth in every house in Telangana, Manickam Tagore called upon the people of
Huzurabad constituency to vote for Congress candidate Balmoor Venkat who had been fighting for the cause of students and unemployed youth, and also went to jail by taking up agitations.
The AICC leader while campaigning along with Damodar Rajanarasimha,
Madhu Yashki Goud, Ponnam Prabhakar among other senior leaders of the party said that the by-poll to Huzurabad may end up as the costliest election of a constituency in the history of Indian politics. Both TRS and BJP are spending huge money, he alleged.
"There are allegations that the TRS and BJP leaders are distributing money to the voters. What is the election commission and its officials doing? What has been seized by the election officials is a pittance compared to the money being distributed through various platforms," alleged Manickam Tagore.
