Jackson Mahomes, the younger brother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick, has apologized to fans after being ripped on social media for dancing atop an on-field logo honoring late Washington Football Team star Sean Taylor on Sunday.
Taylor was an All-Pro safety for Washington before being gunned down in his Florida home by burglars in 2007. On Sunday, the Washington Football Team (WFT) retired his No. 21 jersey with a pre-game ceremony attended by Taylor's family. Fans were seen holding towels with Taylor's uniform number, and a '21' was stenciled along the sidelines at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.
It was on one of the stenciled No. 21 logos that Jackson, a social media celebrity in his own right, did a quick dance number for his TikTok followers.

Jackson, who was previously recorded pouring water on Ravens fans in Baltimore earlier this season, took significant criticism on Sunday
'Jackson Mahomes danced on the Sean Taylor #21 sideline tribute for TikTok,' tweeted Chad Ryan, a WFT blogger. 'Bigger question probably needs to be why anyone was allowed to stand on it to begin with.'
Jackson, who is seen in a pink sweatshirt and black hat, was in a roped-off area along the sideline where he claims he was directed to stand.

'I want to sincerely apologize for accidentally being on the Sean Taylor #21 at FedEx Field,' Jackson wrote on Twitter after his brother's Chiefs secured the 31-13 win over the WFT. 'We were directed to stand in that area and I meant absolutely no disrespect to him or his family.'

'Jackson Mahomes really danced on Sean Taylor's tribute 21, I no longer identify with this horrible person or their brother,' wrote one Twitter user.
'For me to even acknowledge Jackson Mahomes he must've done something irredeemably stupid like dancing on the memorial of a beloved player who died prematurely while his family was in attendance on the day they retired his number,' wrote sports radio host Reese Waters. 'I need apologies stat & not just from him.'

A star at the University of Miami and the fifth-overall pick of the 2004 NFL Draft, Taylor's career served as an inspiration to many fans. After several run-ins with the law, including charges for assault and DUI, Taylor famously rededicated himself to football and, most important, his daughter.
He led the NFL in tackles in 2006 and was having another impressive season in 2007 when he was shot and killed during a home invasion.
According to police, Taylor was investigating the sound of an intruder when he was shot on November 26. The bullet severed Taylor's Femoral artery and he died the following day. His fiancée Jackie García and their 18-month-old daughter Jackie were not harmed in the altercation.
Five men ranging from 20 to 17 in age were arrested for the break in and ultimately found guilty of first degree murder and burglary. They were all sentenced to life in prison.
