Mumbai Coronavirus Latest Update, Mumbai Weather News Highlights: Hours after BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis claimed Uddhav Thackeray secretly nurtured ambitions to become a CM but kept talking about installing a “Shiv Sainik” on the post, NCP president Sharad Pawar Saturday said he had insisted that Thackeray become chief minister of Maharashtra after Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) was formed two years ago.

Work on the fifth and the sixth local train line between Thane and Diva railway stations is likely to be completed by January next year. In 2008, the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) had planned the fifth and sixth line between Thane and Diva. The project was planned under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project-2 (MUTP-2) and the 9.9-km railway line was supposed to be built between Thane and Diva railway stations.

Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Friday said the BJP was behaving “like a jilted lover throwing acid on Maharashtra”, and called for a debate on Centre-state relations. He said the threat to Hindutva was from “neo-Hindus” who have “used Hindutva to come to power but are now adopting Britishers’ divide and rule policy”. Thackeray was speaking at the party’s annual Dussehra rally.

Meanwhile, the Malabar Hill police on Friday arrested three persons for allegedly extorting money from a south Mumbai businessman. According to the police, the three had started an account on Instagram using a woman’s name and under the pretext of making a video call, the three recorded a nude video of the 32-year-old businessman and later blackmailed him into paying them.

Also, Mumbai Friday reported 488 Covid-19 cases and 5 deaths, taking the tally to 7,50,108 and the toll to 16,177. The recovery count reached 7,26,040 after 421 people were discharged from hospitals, leaving the country’s financial capital with an active caseload of 5,379.

I insisted that Uddhav become CM of Maha after MVA was formed: Pawar's snipe at Fadnavis

NCP president Sharad Pawar on Saturday said he had insisted that Uddhav Thackeray become chief minister of Maharashtra after Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) was formed two years ago, hours after BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis claimed Thackeray covertly nurtured ambitions to become a CM but kept talking about installing a "Shiv Sainik" on the post.

Speaking to reporters in Pimpri Chinchwad city in the Pune district, Pawar reiterated his allegations that the Centre was misusing various agencies to destabilise the tripartite government of Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress in Maharashtra. He said the BJP was "keeping mum" on the issue of rising prices of fuel and accused the saffron party of not lowering rates of petrol and diesel despite a fall in the international prices of crude.

"Thackeray was selected by leaders of three parties (in the MVA). The MVA was formed by the contribution of many people including me. When we held a meeting to form the MVA and to discuss the leadership of the alliance, I forced him (Uddhav Thackeray) to become the chief minister. I have seen these people since their childhood. (Shiv Sena founder) Balasaheb Thackeray and I might have political differences but we were close. --PTI

MVA is most corrupt govt in Maharashtra's history, extortion its only agenda: Fadnavis

Senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday hit out at the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray saying the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government was the most corrupt in the history of the state with extortion being its "only agenda." The former chief minister alleged that the MVA government came to power by indulging in dishonesty, and claimed that the BJP is the number one party in the state.

He made the statements a day after Thackeray, who is also the president of the Shiv Sena, launched a no-holds-barred attack on the BJP during the Sena's annual Dussehra rally here. "Thackeray's speech reflected his frustration. You may try to defame the BJP, but the party is firmly grounded...You should remember that the BJP is the number one party in the state," Fadnavis told reporters

"You are saying that the people rejected the BJP, but in fact they rejected the NCP-Congress and promoted you (Shiv Sena). Out of the seats that we fought together (in the 2019 Assembly polls), the BJP had won nearly 70 per cent seats and the Shiv Sena had won 45 per cent seats. Hence, you indulged in dishonesty with the peoples vote and came to power," he said. (PTI)

In the present times, their shared history, economic linkages, bilateral trade and cultural ties dating back to centuries is underwritten in the form of Mumbai’s Moghul Masjid — the oldest Shia Iranian mosque in the city. A vibrant mixture of art and craftsmanship, the Moghul Masjid with its intricate geometric designs, blue mosaic tiles, dazzling stained glasses and thick Persian rugs is one of the few remaining vestiges of the 19th Century Shia Iranian influence on Mumbai city.
