The Premier League season may be in its infancy but that won’t stop owners and decision-makers from having itchy trigger fingers.
Sacking managers has become a key part of life in the professional game as clubs lean towards a ‘grass is greener’ approach to on-field matters.
Of course some clubs benefit from making early managerial changes, however there’s always a club who suffer the consequences of a quick-fix-gone-wrong.
Claudio Ranieri took charge of his first game for Watford on Saturday afternoon and due to receiving a thrashing from Liverpool his odds have been axed from 33/1 to 10/1 to be the next to leave.
If Steve Bruce is sacked next Ranieri could be the next favourite after only one game.
As expected, some other Premier League bosses are now looking nervously over their shoulder following the Hornet’s change in management.
Bruce is the odds-on favourite to be axed following the news that the Premier League have sanctioned Newcastle’s imminent Saudi-led takeover.
The Toon boss is currently winless so far this campaign and is just 1/9 to be the second manager to be given the boot.
The pressure also heats up for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who is winless in the last three Premier League games.
United’s boss stumbled against Leicester and his odds followed suit, dropping from 33/1 the day before to 14/1.
Next permanent Premier League manager to leave
Steve Bruce – 1/8
Claudio Ranieri – 10/1
Bruno Lage – 14/1
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – 14/1
Mikel Arteta – 16/`1
Nuno Espirito Santo – 20/1
Ralph Hasenhuttl – 20/1
Daniel Farke – 25/1
Brendan Rodgers – 25/1
Patrick Vieira – 25/1
Dean Smith – 33/1
Marcelo Bielsa – 33/1
Sean Dyche – 33/1
David Moyes – 40/1
Graham Potter – 40/1
Rafael Benítez – 40/1
Thomas Frank – 50/1
Pep Guardiola – 66/1
Jurgen Klopp – 80/1
Thomas Tuchel – 80/1
Manchester United are another club enduring a difficult time at the moment.
After being knocked out of the League Cup by West Ham last week, United suffered defeat to Aston Villa before a draw against Everton saw his odds tumble from 20/1 to 6/1 before the international break.
The bookies even cut Solskjaer into just 5/2 to be out of a job by Christmas Day last week – with Cristiano Ronaldo tipped to replace him!
That said, he still isn’t the favourite to be sacked next.
Norwich City’s Daniel Farke and Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta are also contenders, according to the bookies.
Despite Arsenal’s turnaround with three wins and a draw in their last four outings, the threat of the sack is still there for Arteta.
At the other end of the list are Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, Chelsea’s Thomas Tuchel and Manchester City gaffer Pep Guardiola who are near-certainties to keep hold of their prestigious roles.
