It is under threat from those who have climbed the ladder of power using Hindutva. These people will now use the Britishers’ strategy to divide and rule. They will create differences in society. We need to be guarded against their nefarious motives,” Thackeray cautioned while speaking at Shiv Sena’s annual Dussehra rally, where he also sounded the poll bugle for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and other local bodies’ elections.
He remarked that Maharashtra is being targeted by the BJP government at the Centre since Shiv Sena has broken ties with them. Referring to the state of affairs in Uttar Pradesh, he said, “Maharashtra is being looked at through a different lens. While we are being targeted, why are places like Uttar Pradesh, where rapes happen, not criticised as well?… if they call the Mumbai Police ‘mafia’, then what will you term the UP Police?”
He also said there is a need to have an honest discussion on federalism and rights of states in country. “Dr Ambedkar had said that like the Centre, states too will have sovereign rights. He had stated that if the Centre meddles in the affairs of the state, it would be in violation of the constitution,” Thackeray added.
From revisiting India’s population policy and the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, to the lack of control over OTT content and the rising use of narcotics — RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat touched upon a range of issues in his Vijayadashami address on Friday.
Addressing a group of Swayamsevaks in Nagpur, Bhagat highlighted the need for a culture that “binds the nation together and promotes love”. He said that only “Sanatan Hindu culture” can save the world from radicalism, terrorism and intolerance, “with its ability to accept all”. The RSS chief was performing a ‘shastra puja’ on the occasion of Dussehra in Nagpur, Maharashtra.
The Samyukt Kisan Morcha burnt a multi-headed Ravana-like effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi having faces of Home Minister Amit Shah and others in Jaipur on the occasion of Dussehra on Friday.
Apart from the faces of Modi and Shah, the effigy had the faces RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and businessmen Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani.

"Rejected lovers sometimes throw acid on girl who rebuff their advances. This is what seems to be happening to Maharashtra. Rebuffed politicians, who have lost power, doing the same to malign this state's image," says Uddhav
Targeting the BJP government at Centre, he said, "They have painted a picture that Maharashtra has beocme a drug capital. That is not the case. In Mundra, there was a drug haul of crores. While your agencies are recovering pinchful of ganja, the Maharashtra cops have recovered drugs worth Rs 150 crore. All they are interested in is to catch celebrities and get their pictures clicked."

In another dig at BJP, Uddhav remarked, 'Some people never participated in the freedom struggle but saying Bharat Mata ki Jay makes them bigger patriots than soldiers.'

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat, on Friday, called for returning all temple properties controlled by governments to Hindu society and also reiterated its demand for a population policy to take care of what it terms as “demographic imbalance” caused by various factors.
Bhagwat was addressing RSS volunteers at the annual Vijayadashmi programme here.
Bhagwat observed that most Hindu temples in south India are controlled by the government. “Many temples in India are also run by trusts. In both the cases, we find instances of a good and bad management,” he said. Read more
