The petrol and diesel prices in metropolitan cities in India have been hiked for the second straight day on Wednesday, October 5. The prices remained steady on only one day, October 3, and have been rising since. The petrol prices have surged by 30 to 35 paise across the metro cities today.
The price of petrol in Delhi has been increased by 30 paise from Rs 102.64 per litre to Rs 102.94 per litre, while the diesel prices stand at Rs 91.42 after a 35 paise hike. In Mumbai, fuel rates are at an all-time high with petrol is priced at Rs 108.96 per litre and diesel is Rs 99.17 per litre.

It is noteworthy to mention that fuel rates vary across states due to the value-added tax (VAT). The prices of petrol and diesel are revised almost every day, taking into account the rupee-dollar exchange rate and fuel prices in the international market.
The changes in the petrol and diesel prices are implemented at 6 am each day across the country. The prices in India are rising, while the US fuel prices also rose for the fifth day straight today, to their highest since the year 2014.
