- Tamil Nadu police seize PDS rice being smuggled to Kerala

COIMBATORE: The KG Chavadi police on Wednesday seized 3,650 kg of PDS rice at Walayar check post and arrested a man. The PDS rice was being smuggled to Kerala from Tamil Nadu.
Police sources said the vehicle was stopped based on suspicion and found 73 bags of ration rice with each bag containing 50 kg.
The arrested man has been identified as G Martin, 40, of the Walayar Road in Palakkad district of Kerala. A light commercial vehicle used for smuggling the rice was also seized.
The police handed over the accused, his vehicle and the seized rice to civil supplies CID for further inquiries.
