Toss Report

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s captain Virat Kohli won the toss and opted to field first against Kane Williamson’s Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 52nd match of the IPL 2021 here at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. Both the teams have not changed their playing XI. RCB need to win both their games to be in the top 2 while SRH are already out of the playoffs race.

Teams

Sunrisers Hyderabad (Playing XI): Jason Roy, Wriddhiman Saha(w), Kane Williamson(c), Priyam Garg, Abhishek Sharma, Abdul Samad, Jason Holder, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddarth Kaul, Umran Malik

Royal Challengers Bangalore (Playing XI): Virat Kohli(c), Devdutt Padikkal, Glenn Maxwell, AB de Villiers, Daniel Christian, Shahbaz Ahmed, Srikar Bharat(w), George Garton, Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal

Both team captains at the toss

Kane Williamson: Exciting opportunity for us. I think as an environment, we would try to evolve. There is still some focus. There is a lot of enthusiasm thanks to the youth in the team. We are going with the same side from the last match.

Virat Kohli: We are gonna bowl first. We have seen the wicket eases out in the second half. We had a bit of a jolt at the start of this leg. Against Chennai, we could have made a game out of it. We were 15-20 short. Every team wants to qualify with a few games to spare. Having qualified, we would want to back ourselves to deliver when under pressure. Same side for us.

Pitch Report

Nick Knight: The overhead conditions are superb – this is the driest pitch we have had so far, there are some cracks developing, we have had hot weather and dry winds, so this might help cutters and spinners a bit more. Variations are the key, you’ll get more grip off the surface.

Having already made it to the IPL 2021 playoffs with two games to spare, Royal Challengers Bangalore are sitting third in the points table with 16 points in 12 games. RCB’s last two outings in the league phase are against SRH and DC, & Virat Kohli’s side will be aiming to continue the momentum and finish off with the highest points ahead of the knockout stage. Kohli’s side is on a three-match winning streak and the wins in both the remaining two games will help them finish off in the top two spots.

IPL 2021 – RCB vs SRH Live: Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the opposite, is languishing at the bottom of the points table with just two wins in 12 outings. They are having a disastrous campaign and will be hoping to end the campaign on high. SRH’s main concern in the first phase was the out-of-form batting unit, which hasn’t improved in the second phase too, while the off-field controversies surrounding David Warner seem to have sucked out all the energy from the camp. However, there was some bright spark for the Orange Army in the form of young Umran Malik in the last outing against KKR who consistently clocked around 145 km/h.

RCB vs SRH Last Meeting: Both teams last met in Chennai in the first phase of the tournament in which Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore secured 6 runs win over Sunrisers Hyderabad. Put into bat, RCB posted 149/8 on the board with the help of Glenn Maxwell’s fighting fifty and restricted David Warner’s side at 143/9 in the allotted overs. Shahbaz Ahmed returned with 3-7 while Mohammad Siraj and Harshal Patel picked two wickets each for RCB in the win.
