MNS activists agitate over potholed roads in Aurangabad

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Oct 6 (UNI) The activists of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena carried out a unique agitation by performing a symbolic 'pooja' of potholed roads on occasion of 'Amavasya Pitru Shraddh' on Wednesday here at Saubhajya Chowk on busy Jalgaon road to protest against apathetic attitude of civic and MSRDC officials.
Led by MNS district president Suhas Dasrathe and city chief Satnam Gulathi, the agitators held demonstration and raised slogans against civic body and MSRDC officials for bad condition of roads.
Later they summoned a prist and performed the symbolic 'Pitru Shraddh' pooja with chanting 'mantras'.
Talking to newsmen, they said that,there are at least 2,000 potholes on 5-km-long road, as a result, many people travelling on this road complain of backpain and sometimes even met with accident.
Mr Dasrathe alleged that Rs 60 lakh were earmarked for repair of this road but nothing has been done so far.
"If the potholes are not filled within eight days, then they would resort to MNS-style agitation," they warned.
