Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) qualified for the playoffs in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after beating the Punjab Kings in their last game. With Chennai Super Kings (CSK) losing two games in a row and RCB winning three consecutive matches, the Virat Kohli-led side has a golden opportunity to finish in the top two.
For Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), on the other hand, nothing has gone right in IPL 2021, whether it is the performances on the field or their off-field controversies. They put a strong performance against the Rajasthan Royals but since then they have lost a couple of games and are waiting for their misery to end as they still remain the only team to be officially eliminated.
RCB have dominated the men in orange in the recent few meetings between the two teams winning three of their last five encounters while SRH have won the two games.
Head-to-head: 19 games; SRH - 10, RCB - 8, NR - 1
The Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad have faced each other 19 times in eight seasons (since 2013 when the former came into the existence). The men in orange have had the wood over RCB winning 10 games, while the Virat Kohli and co has won only 8 of those 19 encounters, with one being washed out due to rain.
The last time these two sides met earlier this season, RCb won in a thriller as they defended a score of 149 runs by just six runs on a sluggish Chennai surface. Virat Kohli's 33 and Glenn Maxwell's fifty ensured RCB got to a par total on that wicket and their bowlers overcame the David Warner assault to win the game.
David Warner leads the most runs list
Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner is the leading run-scorer in the RCB vs SRH matches with 647 runs from 2014 till now, since the time he has been with the franchise. Warner is followed by the RCB skipper Virat Kohli with 564 runs. AB de Villiers is third on the list with 521 runs against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Yuzvendra Chahal the leading wicket-taker
Royal Challengers Bangalore leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is the leading wicket-taker in the RCB vs SRH games with 16 scalps. Chahal is followed by SRH pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has taken 15 wickets against RCB while Rashid Khan is on the third spot with 10 wickets against RCB.
