JAIPUR: The Design Innovation Centre (DIC) of Rajasthan University, which was established in 2016, has been given a five-year extension by the ministry of education along with Rs 10 crore grant in two phases. The DIC was established by the central government in Rajasthan University’s Centre for Converging Technologies. It objective is to spread design education among students thereby creating design culture and design thinking and to promote innovation among students as well as the common man. Vice-chancellor Rajiv Jain said, “We are happy that the DIC has been extended to 2026 and in the course of time, it will be on self-sustainable basis. We already have an ecosystem in place and have faith that faculty members and students will take the advantage of the framework provided by DIC.” The centre mainly aims at food designing, computer assisted drug designing, product design employing different types of coating etc.
