Gujarat records one Covid death after 31 days

AHMEDABAD: After a gap of 31 days, Gujarat recorded the death of a Covid patient on Tuesday. A patient in Junagadh district died, taking the death toll to 10,083. The previous death was recorded on September 3.
Gujarat in the past 24 hours added 23 new Covid cases, recording a spike of 64% compared to the cases on Monday. The new cases included 7 from Valsad, 5 from Surat city, 3 from Surat district, 2 each from Kheda and Rajkot city, and 1 each from Ahmedabad and Vadodara cities, Junagadh and Navsari districts.
The active cases in Gujarat again touched 180. Analysis of districts reveals that three districts of south Gujarat – Surat, Valsad and Navsari – account for 50% of the active cases. Ahmedabad accounts for another 24% of the cases. Experts advise caution against rise in cases and urge the citizens to adhere to the Covid safety rules.
