CHANDIGARH: The
Haryana government on Tuesday claimed to have procured 44,000 tonnes of paddy during the day. While till Monday, the government claimed to have procured 1,15,626 tonnes of paddy of the season.
According to information maximum 18,000 tonnes procurement the day was made at
Ambala markets while minimum 2,000 tonnes were procured at
Kurukshetra. While 10,000 Tonnes each were procured in Kaithal and
Yamunanangar districts.
The additional chief secretary, food, civil supplies and consumer affairs
Anurag Rastogi said that gate passes for the procurement of about 3.60 lakh tones of paddy in Haryana, passes have been issued on e-Kharid portal of state.
Rastogi claimed that the paddy procurement had started from Sunday at the minimum support price of Rs 1,960 per quintal. He said that at the beginning of the procurement process, sometimes problems arise when a large number of farmers come to the grain market at the same time to sell their produce. During this situation all possible efforts are being made by the state government to overcome these kinds of problems.
He said that he is hopeful situation will become completely normal in the coming days and the paddy procurement process will operate smoothly as in the previous years.
Meanwhile, referring to grievances raised by farmers for non procurement, the officials reasoned the issue of moisture and non possession of e-pass with farmers for the sale of their yield.
