AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat high court on Monday expressed its displeasure about seeking adjournment in a case on the ground of replacement of litigant’s advocate. The court fumed at the lawyers who exited the case earlier and said that the high court is not a garden, where anybody can just walk in and go out according to his wish. The case involved a property dispute of Khoja community trust in Patan. Two lawyers, who appeared for one of the litigants in the case earlier, quit the case. When the new lawyer sought time from the court to prepare himself, the petitioner’s advocate took an exception to the delay in proceedings. The bench of Justice J B Pardiwala and Justice V D Nanavati sought to know the reasons why the lawyers had exited the proceedings. The judges has summoned both the lawyers on Tuesday morning and remarked, “The high court is not a Law Garden or Parimal Garden where anybody just walks in one day and say ‘I am here’ and the next day he says that ‘I am out of the case’. What nonsense is going on? We will not tolerate this.” The court has summoned the lawyers to reply to court’s queries.
