Apple iPhone 13 Pro, iPad Mini, Lenovo ThinkPad X12 Detachable, and more: ZDNet's reviews roundup

  • iPhone 13 Pro

    iPhone 13 Pro

If you currently have an iPhone 12, don't feel compelled to upgrade unless you really, really want a couple of extra hours of battery and some fancy video features. To anyone else, even iPhone 11 users, the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max are worthwhile, expensive and meaningful upgrades.

  • Apple iPad Mini (6th Gen.)

    Apple iPad Mini (6th Gen.)

The iPad Mini is one heck of an upgrade over the previous generation. The new design is refreshing, while the upgraded internals and larger display combine for solid performance and battery life. The star of the show here, though, is how easy it is to take the Mini with you.

  • Apple iPad (2021)

    Apple iPad (2021)

Apple perfected the tablet equation with the iPad, and there isn't a single competitor that comes close to the iPad in performance and price. At $329 on a bad day and $299 on most days, there's really no reason not to get the iPad if you're in the market for a tablet for daily tasks.

  • Lenovo ThinkPad X12 Detachable

    Lenovo ThinkPad X12 Detachable

Lenovo's first-generation ThinkPad X12 Detachable is small and portable, yet robust of frame. The 12.3-inch screen is a little cramped, audio is poor, and the battery might not get many people through a full working day -- although fast charging support is a saving grace.

  • Dynabook Tecra A50-J-11X

    Dynabook Tecra A50-J-11X

This is a relatively bulky and heavy 15.6-inch laptop. It's a no-nonsense business device, whose display and audio subsystems are not up to consumer pursuits such as gaming or video viewing. But it has reasonable battery life and a plethora of connections, including an Ethernet port.

  • HP ZBook Firefly 14 G8

    HP ZBook Firefly 14 G8

This is a reasonably priced entry-level mobile workstation that offers strong performance for content creation, 2D graphics and technical design work, wrapped up in a lightweight but sturdy design. However, the limited display options seem rather short-sighted for such a powerful laptop, and the battery life certainly leaves room for improvement.

    DT Research LT330

DT Research provides three LT300 series 360-convertible laptops with customisable options. The batteries lasted for a couple of days and the ability to swap them out quickly is fantastic. The display is very visible outside and the touchscreen is very responsive.

  • Sony Xperia 10 III

    Sony Xperia 10 III

The Sony Xperia 10 III is to a large extent defined by its 21:9 screen. The build quality is solid and it's nice to see 5G support, but the 60Hz screen refresh rate, an unremarkable camera setup, and lack of fast charging out of the box do it no favours.

  • Xiaomi 11T Pro

    Xiaomi 11T Pro

The Xiaomi 11T Pro is an impressive phone. At the upper end of the mid-range in price, it brings some high-end features along for the ride. Fast charging is undoubtedly the star of the show. You also get 5G support, a superb 120Hz OLED screen, a flagship-class chipset and a very capable triple rear camera setup.

  • Realme GT and GT Master Edition

Realme GT and GT Master Edition

In many ways, the Realme GT and Realme GT Master Edition are similar handsets. The Master Edition has a less powerful chipset and a smaller battery, but the selfie camera is better. Calling it the 'Master Edition' is arguably confusing, but if it hits the UK at a lower price point than the GT, buyers may find it the more appealing of the two.

  • ZTE Axon 30 5G

    ZTE Axon 30 5G

The phone is very responsive, the display looks amazing, battery life has been solid, and it has performed as well as other mid-range $500 phones. If you want a big-screen phone experience, then you might want to consider it.

    LG TONE Free FP8

The LG TONE Free FP8 checks every box for a pair of wireless earbuds and comes in at a reasonable $149.99 current price, MSRP of $179.99. We've already installed one update during testing, so LG is actively working to ensure the headset continues to perform well.

  • Jabra Elite 3

    Jabra Elite 3

The $80 price is very appealing -- and you might think Jabra had to give up a lot in the audio performance with such an affordable price. Thankfully, it did not, as these earbuds maintain a very good level of bass with clear, high-quality audio playback. Calls also sounded good on both ends.

  • Fitbit Charge 5

    Fitbit Charge 5

The Fitbit Charge 5 is an awesome upgrade over the Charge 4 and clearly Fitbit's best activity tracker ever. It provides a wealth of health and wellness data and an ecosystem to help you interpret and incorporate that data into improving your wellbeing. The $180 price is just about right for the features, functions, and performance.

    Galaxy Watch 4 Classic

Like the Apple Watch, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is a powerful smartwatch that needs to be charged daily. But it has a brilliant large display, UI optimized for the watch and spinning bezel, powerful health and fitness functions, and LTE functionality.

    COROS Vertix 2

If you are someone who can comfortably wear a watch that has a 50mm diameter, then you may be impressed. Having a watch that you can wear 24/7 is a great relief -- and with the Vertix 2 you can go weeks without worrying about charging it up.

  • GoPro Hero10 Black

    GoPro Hero10 Black

The Hero10 Black is a solid upgrade over the Hero9 Black. If you've been looking for a dedicated camera that is a master of all the things a video camera should be able to do in 2021, at $399, the Hero10 Black is a solid choice.

  • HTC Vive Focus 3

    HTC Vive Focus 3

HTC's Vive Focus 3 is a high-quality VR headset with a price tag that signals its business rather than consumer focus. Businesses will be less concerned about the cost, and more interested in the quality and utility of the content that the platform can support.

  • Chargeasap Flash Pro Plus

    Chargeasap Flash Pro Plus

The Flash Pro Plus is a little on the hefty side; it weighs in at just over 580g and the case measures 16cm by 9cm by almost 3cm thick. Inside are graphene batteries from Panasonic that Chargeasap says have a five-year life. This is a solid product in every sense: you'll know you're carrying it, but it can deliver plenty of power.
