GREATER NOIDA:
Villagers from Jahangirpur protested at
Khurja-Jewar road, demanding action against two quacks for alleged negligence after a 12-year-old
girl undergoing treatment from them died on Saturday.
The girl was administered three bottles of glucose by the quacks on Saturday, but she died on her way back home. Her parents alleged that despite repeatedly asking if the girl required treatment from a better facility, the quacks sent them home.
The girl, identified as Kanak, was undergoing treatment at JN Care Centre since Thursday. Udaypal Singh, father of the deceased, said, “We were never given any slip for treatment but had to pay Rs 10,000 for the treatment. They would give medicine and send us back. On Saturday, they called us again and administered three bottles of glucose and some medicines. My daughter was in pain and I even asked the quacks if we should take her to another facility. But he said that my daughter will be fine and sent us home.”
Udaypal has given a complaint to the Jewar police station against Juhi Bansal and Naved Khan, who runs the JN Health Care Centre.
The family said that while Bansal administers the medicines, the centre is run by Naved and both don’t have the required degrees.
Meanwhile, villagers from Jahangirpur protested and demanded an FIR and arrest in the case.
The girl’s grandfather, Mahipal Singh, said that despite visiting the police station and the Jahangirpur police chowki, they made us go from one place to another. We also told them that the quacks closed the centre and fled, he said.
The protest was called off after ACP 4 (Greater Noida) Rudra Pratap Singh and Jewar SHO Umesh Bahadur arrived at the spot and assured a fair probe into the case. The ACP said, “If the doctors are guilty, they will be jailed.”
An FIR was lodged under IPC Section 304 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder). Jewar SHO Umesh Bahadur said that they are investigated the matter. “So far, we have found that they don’t have any degree and they were running the centre for the past four-five months,” he said.
