Dillian Whyte is concerned that Anthony Joshua has become ‘too comfortable’ and may have ‘lost the dog in him’ after watching his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.
Britain’s unified heavyweight champion was outboxed and dethroned by the Ukrainian, who put on a magnificent performance to make history at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Usyk’s speed, movement and accuracy troubled AJ all night long.
Joshua had moments of success throughout the fight, but could not maintain this for long enough to emerge victorious.
Usyk ultimately outclassed Joshua and had him out on his feet in the final round, with the bell saving AJ from being knocked out.
The scores were 117-112, 116-112, 115-113, crowning Usyk a two-division king of the world as the former cruiserweight champion took hold of the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles.
Whyte told Behind The Gloves: “He boxed well. Joshua seemed very gun-shy, didn’t wanna let his hands go.
“It seemed like he was always hesitating, hesitating and Usyk took advantage of it.
“Maybe Joshua’s just comfortable and just relaxed now. He doesn’t seem hungry anymore.
“He seemed to be fighting this safety-first fight style that he’s showed in his last couple of fights.
“Maybe he’s lost the dog in him, it happens sometimes.”
Regarding how he would approach a bout with the new champion, Whyte concluded: “I don’t give a f*** about Usyk. I don’t care. I never feared him.
“What did he do? He didn’t knock out Joshua, he just outboxed him.
“I don’t care, listen, I’ll go to war with him, I don’t give a f*** about all of that.
“If the chips are down, I’ll swing it out.”
