Thane: Road accident causes huge traffic snarl on Ghodbunder road

THANE: Three people were injured when an oil tanker rammed into a container truck and three cars at Gaimukh ghat on Sunday late night.
The accident led to massive traffic jam on Ghodbunder road and commuters were stuck on Monday morning in the long queue of traffic jam. Traffic movement on Gujarat bound lane of Ghodbunder road on Monday was shut following the mishap.
The incident occurred at 10:20 pm near Nagla bunder along the city fringes and the pileup of traffic spread for nearly eight kms till Majiwada in the city.
Police said they are working towards clearing the traffic from the spot.
Santosh Kadam of the Thane regional disaster management cell said the three people injured in the accident were admitted to Bhaktivedanta Hospital.
Those injured in the mishap were identified as Vinod Kharat(30), Shrishti Patil(18) and Pandurang Patil(45).
Kasarvadavali traffic police officials, Kasarvadavali police officials and firefighters in Thane rushed to the spot immediately with two emergency tenders, one fire engine and a Quick Response Vehicle (QRV). Mira Bhayander fire officers were also present on the spot upon receiving the information with one fire engine, one crane, three Hydra, one JCB and three ambulances.
