Imphal, September 26 2021: A one-day political conference on 'Role of Youth in Politics' was organised by Naoriya Pakhan-glakpa Youth Congress Committee at the Mekola residence of MPCC general secretary Dr S Manaoton on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Manaoton, who is planning to contest the upcoming Assembly polls in 2022, observed that Naoriya Pakhariglakpa can be considered as one of the backward constituencies in the state, despite being part of the major areas of Imphal West District.
The absence of an elected representative has only added to the woes of the people and as such, the denizens should elect a representative who will work in tune to the sentiments of the people.
He continued that over 35000 voters reside in the constituency, of which 12000 are in the age group of 18-35 years.
This age group i.e., the younger population, know that money and muscle power, cannot help bring about a well developed society.
Thus, the conference was organised with the aim of helping guide the youth to discern and elect the best candidate for the society, the constituency and the state, he added.
Presided over by Naoriya Pakhan-glakpa Youth Congress Committee president Leishangthem Premchand, the conference was also attended by Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Block Congress Committee president Nandeibam Sangoijao as guest of honour.
