GURUGRAM: Badshapur legislator
Rakesh Daultabad was urged to intervene and expedite the process of handing over assets to the Municipal Corporation of Manesar (
MCM) at a ‘janata darbar’ on Sunday.
At the public meeting, convened by the independent
MLA to hear grievances of the residents living in the newly developed sectors along the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) and Dwarka Expressway, representatives of several residents’ welfare associations and village sarpanches also reiterated their demand for the redevelopment of the 5.6-km crucial stretch between Rampura Chowk and Pataudi Road.
More than 400 people were present at the meeting which was also attended by officials of 36 departments, including Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), department of town and country planning (DTCP), police, public works department (PWD), MCM and Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC).
According to residents, nine months after the formation of MCM, the process of handing over assets had not been completed. This, they claimed, was hampering the resolution of civic issues, including maintenance of streetlights and sanitation, in the area.
Praveen Malik, vice-president of United Association of New Gurugram, told TOI that the MCM was formed with a vision to address the civic issues that have been neglected for years.
“The delay in handing over assets to it is creating hurdles in the development and resolution of civic problems of the area. For instance, streetlights in the area are maintained by the HSVP, but in the absence of funds their upkeep have been affected.”
The residents also urged Daultabad to develop the greenbelt in the area, expedite land acquisition to provide water supply to sectors 77 to 80.
“We highlighted that that the road near Harsaru village on Pataudi Road has been in a dilapidated state for a very long time and demanded that it be maintained properly. We have also sought streetlights on this stretch. Although the water supply has been started in our area, but local water tanker mafia are creating trouble by frequently damaging the supply line. We have asked the authorities to initiate strict action against such culprits too,”
Randhir Singh Redhu, RWA president of NBCC Heights in sector 89, said.
Dalutabad has assured to resolve the grievances on a priority basis.
"I will talk to the departments concerned to expedite the process of handover so that civic issues can be addressed in a timely manner. Moreover, I will talk to senior officials of ULB so that sewerage network and water supply can be taken over by the MCM,” Daultabad said.
