Imphal, September 26 2021: Maintaining that profligate expenditure, by candidates during election time is one of the foot causes for corruption, BiP intending candidate from Uripok assembly constituency Khumbongmayurn Suresh has opined that restricting election expenditure can root out corruption Suresh distributed basketball kits to players of Uripok Achom Leikai Youth Club as part of Seva Aur Samarpan Abhiyan held in relation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday Speaking on the occasion, the intending candidate emphasised on the need for curbing election expenditure saying that such curb will automatically see decline in graft cases as the elected people's representatives are certain to look for recouping his/her wealth spent during the campaigning.
He also stressed the need for stopping the trend of organising election-related feasts and said that voters need to understand the importance of cutting election expenditure towards bringing a corruption free society where there is peace and development.
Regarding the distribution of sports kits, Suresh said that it was intended to encourage the youth to take up sports as a career option so that they may one day bring fame to the state and the country.
He also assured all possible help to national and international players from Uripok assembly constituency.
Suresh urged the local clubs in different parts of the constituency to encourage and promote sporting talents in their respective localities.
