Teachers’ Union backs call for Bharat Bandh

Mohali, September 25

The Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers’ Union (PCCTU) has announced to support the Bharat Bandh call by farmers organisations on September 27.

Dr Vinay Sophat, president of the union, said the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha had given a call for Bharat Bandh to express its resentment against stubborn and undemocratic attitude of the Central Government to respond to their legitimate demand of withdrawal of three black farm laws. He said the PCCTU, while appreciating the struggle of the farmers and condemning the pro-corporate mindset of the Central Government, had decided to support the Bharat Bandh call.

Dr Sophat said the union members across the state had been requested to mobilise teachers and students from colleges of Punjab and Chandigarh to make the call a success in the interest of the farmers and the public. — TNS
