Huma Qureshi visits Chandigarh to inaugurate a luxury salon

Dressed in a kaftan, paired with ethnic jhumkas, Huma Qureshi touched down in Chandigarh to inaugurate a luxury hair salon on Saturday. Happy to be out and making a public appearance, the Bellbottom actress expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome she has got in Punjab. She said, “It has been two to three years since I had last been to Chandigarh or Punjab. I always have a good time in the city; not only is it a well-planned city, but the people here are full of life too.”

With her hair kept open, balayage highlights at the front and baby lights at the back, nude make-up; she had kept it simple. Not to ignore the cream-coloured embroidered face mask, which she kept on even while answering our questions, and telling many other guest to follow suit. On her recent successful box-office outing as a spy in Bellbottom, she said, “I had kept my fingers crossed for this one. When I was offered the role, it felt like an opportunity, especially because it came to me after the first lockdown.”

Her take on social media is little different, as she believes, “It has saved us all in the past one-and-a-half year. While it is true that social media can affect our mental health, at the same time it kept us sane when we were alone and away from our loved ones.”

About whether she can take a break from social media, she quipped, “I don’t think I need to. I use it as a platform to speak my mind. As far as the criticism and trolls go, I ignore them all. It is as simple as it can be. You give me a flower and I don’t accept it, so it doesn’t affect me. Like fire can be used to cook food and burn something down, social media can be used for good and bad things. It depends on us.”

Look wise

Huma believes that is for the audience to decide her best character on screen, but she liked the one of Rani Bharti in Maharani. On more female-centric content being made, she adds, “There are many stories that did not see the light of the day and should be brought forward. Every actress who came before us ignited the movement of change. Our success is because of them.”
