CHENNAI: Leader of the opposition and AIADMK joint coordinator
Edappadi K Palaniswami on Saturday alleged that chief minister M K Stalin was lying about implementation of poll promises.
Stalin, earlier in the day, had said that 202 out of 505 poll promises made by the DMK had been fulfilled in four months. “He has forgotten about the people after becoming chief minister,” the AIADMK leader said.
Speaking at a party meeting in Chengalpet, the former chief minister said the DMK had confused people and taken advantage of people’s ignorance. Only four or five promises have been fulfilled, he said. The party promised monthly assistance of Rs 1,000 to women homemakers, waiver of gold loans, educational loans and hike in old age pension to Rs 1,500 per month. But none was implemented, said EPS.
He alleged that the DMK had no courage to face the AIADMK in the local body elections directly, and rejection of nomination papers of the AIADMK candidates in Kallakurichi was testimony to that. Palaniswami charged that state finance minister P T R Palanivel Thiaga Rajan did not attend the last GST council meeting to evade queries from Union finance minister on bringing fuel under the ambit of GST
