Not too long ago, the owner of a Tesla Model S Plaid tried to drive the EV under 7 feet of water. The YouTuber failed in his mission to turn the Tesla into a submarine but fortunately, the car wasn’t destroyed.
The YouTuber is now back with another video focused on his Model S Plaid and with some of the car’s electronic nannies refusing to work after its trip underwater, decided he would take the opportunity to see if the powerful sedan can be drifted.
To answer that question, he handed the Model S Plaid over to professional driver Kai Goddarn and as the car delivers no less than 1,020 hp, it should come as no surprise that it is possible to kick out the tail of it and this is made especially easy when the traction control system isn’t working. However, actually holding a drift proved difficult to Goddarn because of the yoke.

While you may be sick of hearing about all the criticisms leveled against Tesla’s controversial decision to eliminate a traditional steering wheel and replace it with a yoke, it’s hard to refute the fact that it makes drifting much more difficult.
Throughout the video, Goddarn can be seen altering his driving style to work with the yoke but finds his hands in all manner of weird orientations as he tries to keep the Model S under control. If the car had a standard steering wheel, we’re sure he would have been able to hold some impressive powerslides without issue. Good thing then that Tesla is offering it for those who’d rather not have the yoke.
