Rajasthan Panchayat by-election 2021: Seven Sarpanch and 953 Panch elected unopposed

In the by-elections of 27 sarpanches and 1249 panches in 33 districts of the state, 69 candidates for the post of sarpanch and 624 candidates for panch will try their luck. Polling for these posts will be held on September 28 from 8 am to 5 pm. At the same time 7 Sarpanch and 953 Panch have been elected unopposed.



Chitra Gupta, Chief Electoral Officer and Secretary of the Commission has given this information. He said that by-elections are being held on the vacant posts of Sarpanch, Up Sarpanch and Ward Panchs in Gram Panchayats on the vacant posts in Panchayati Raj Institutions till June 15, 2021.

Secretary Chitra Gupta informed that on September 22, 140 candidates filed 140 nomination papers in 27 gram panchayats for the post of sarpanch. At the same time, 2176 candidates had filed 2178 nomination papers for 1248 ward panches in 1117 gram panchayats.

Out of 140 nomination papers received for the post of Sarpanch, 138 applications were found correct after scrutiny. Of these, 62 candidates withdrew. After this 7 Sarpanchs were elected unopposed. In this way, 69 candidates are left in the fray for the post of sarpanch in 20 panchayats.

Out of the applications received for Panch posts, 2081 applications were found to be correct. Of these, 509 candidates withdrew. In these panchayats, 953 panchs have been elected unopposed. In this way, now 624 candidates are left in the fray for 276 Panch posts.

Chitra Gupta said that on September 28, after the voting from 8 am to 5 pm, the counting of votes would be done at the panchayat headquarters. The election of the Upsarpanch will be held on September 29.
