State TB and Tobacco Cell Haryana organized a hybrid webinar on World Lung Day

Panchkula, September 25: On occasion of World Lung day today, the State TB and Tobacco Cell Haryana organized a hybrid webinar in the office of Director General Health Services, Sector-6 to promote wellness by improving lung health.

The webinar organized under the able guidance of Director General Health Services, Dr Veena Singh, was presided over by Additional Director General Health Services, Dr V. K Bansal. The webinar was attended by all civil surgeons and DTO across the state online.

The event had presence of Special Guests, Prof Dr Guy Marks, Executive Director, International TB Union and Sh Ajay Madan District Governor RID 3080.

Dr VK Bansal, ADGHS and DHS NTEP gave a brief insight into the integration of various national programmes for achieving goal to eliminate TB by 2025 and encouraged the efforts of team for organizing awareness about lung health amongst the stake holders. Dr Rajesh Rajju State TB Officer laid emphasis of observation of health days and especially lung day during pandemic times. While Dr Sukhwant WHO consultant gave a brief presentation of the programme, Dr Rita Kotwal talked about the tobacco control effort for good lung health by the Haryana Government.

Prof Guy Marks shared his experience in Australia and technical advancements in promotion of lung Health. Sh Ajay Madan, DG Rotary 3080 came all the way from kurukshetra to hand over 2 mobile diagnostic vans under Global Grant for strengthening surveillance and promoting lung health in Haryana.

At a cost of 97000$, the vans were handed over to Health Department for serving the poor and needy in outreach camps and taking health services to the door steps. These mobile vans will have the facilities of mobile x-ray, CBNAAT facilities, Truenat machines. They will stay in CHC, PHC, high risk population area and will examine the possible cases of TB by taking sputum samples. With the help of these, the hidden and those who could not reach, they will also be able to be traced and the investigation and treatment of possible cases will be started in time.
