According to police, there was an explosion in the scrap yard in the cutlery market around 9.30am on Friday when the workers were busy cutting scrap using gas.
RAJKOT: A father and his son were killed in a blast in a scrap yard of Upleta town, 106km from Rajkot, on Friday.
It is believed that there was an explosion in the cylinder.
The police called a forensic team for a detailed investigation.
According to police, there was an explosion in the scrap yard in the cutlery market around 9.30am on Friday when the workers were busy cutting scrap using gas.
The explosion was heard a few kilometers away. It damaged walls of the scrap yard and nearby shops.
The deceased are identified as Rajak Kana and Raees Kana both are father and son.
Upleta town police inspector HM Dhandhal said, “Primarily, it is believed that there was an explosion in the cylinder but we are investigating all the angles. We are also waiting for a forensic report.”
