A labourer was buried alive while digging a tube well in Sriganganagar on Tuesday evening.

A farmer, Durga Prasad, had reportedly hired Rajesh Nayak and Sahib Ram to dig about 60-ft deep tube well in Chak 6-ML village. While Rajesh was digging and Sahib Ram provided him with support from outside, the sidewall caved. As Sahib raised an alarm, some people rushed in to rescue the labourer but could not save him.

ASP Sahi Ram Bishnoi, SDM Ummaid Singh Ratnu and Chunawadh SHO Parmeshwar Suthar monitored the four-hour rescue operation, but rain added to their woes. The deceased is survived by his wife and four children.
