Birla Carbon, which is the leading carbon black manufacturer, recently announced that it will enter into the Energy Systems market with its participation at The Battery Show 2021 - which is being held in Novi, Michigan from September 14-16. The portfolio of Birla Carbon presented at the show contained conductive carbon solutions with its Conductex i and Conductex e series of products. It is also going to present its forthcoming carbon solutions for the battery industry. The entry is significant of the fact that Birla Carbon is going to play an important role in carbon conductive applications.
The new portfolio comprises conductive carbons for the lithium-ion and lead-acid battery market that enables customization in performance and formulation in a variety of telecoms, segments, including automotive, motive power, e-bikes, and energy storage systems. Birla Carbon’s unique Ultra process is going to be used by the products to ensure the highest levels of purity and conductivity.
According to John Davidson, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Birla Carbon, the company wants to understand the needs of the customers. The portfolio is tailored as the battery market demonstrates the commitment to the growth of Birla Carbon in the area of the rapidly expanding energy storage arena. He also said that this is the first example of many high-performance products in the company’s pipeline.
According to Ann Schoeb, Chief R&D Officer and Business Head, Energy Systems, Birla Carbon, Birla Carbon has been able to achieve remarkable success in enhancing the contribution of carbons to advanced battery applications. The Conductex-e product is one of the developments in the battery application segment.
