Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 1.27%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of Balkrishna Industries (up 6.18 per cent), Tata Motors (up 2.7 per cent), Exide Industries (up 2.3 per cent), MRF (up 2.07 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra (up 1.9 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, TIINDIA (down 0.94 per cent), Eicher Motors (down 0.4 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp (down 0.11 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 1.27 per cent up at 10284.6.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 15.35 points at 17546.65, while the BSE Sensex stood down 77.94 points at 58927.33.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 ended in the green, while 22 closed in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Zee Ent., YES Bank, SAIL and ITC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Zee Ent., VRL Logistics, Godrej Properties, DLF and Inox Leisure hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Inventure Grwth and Servotech Power Syst hit their fresh 52-week lows.
