Eddie Hearn has told Tyson Fury he can face Dillian Whyte while he waits for the undisputed heavyweight title fight with Anthony Joshua.
Fury outlined an ambitious two-year plan of fights in the build-up to his trilogy showdown with Deontay Wilder next month – which you can hear live on talkSPORT.
As well as a sequel of fights with Joshua, Fury revealed he was keen to face Whyte at the end of 2021 before setting up the undisputed clash.
Of course, the best-laid plans in the heavyweight division have a horrible tendency to fall foul, with politics and punches often intertwining.
Fury and Joshua were supposed to fight on August 14 in Saudi Arabia for all of the belts, only for Wilder and his legal team to force through a third fight thanks to a mediator.
Similarly, Whyte had been the No.1 ranked fighter with the WBC for more than 1,000 days, only to then be knocked out last August by Alexander Povetkin in devastating fashion.
And with Joshua set to face Oleksandr Usyk this Saturday night and the ‘Gypsy King’ set to defend his belts against Wilder in Las Vegas on October 9, few would mind if Fury decided to skip Whyte out and wait.
However, Eddie Hearn believes the ‘Bodysnatcher’ is deserving of his shot at a world title and, provided he can get past Otto Wallin next month, would happily make the fight.
“I would never take Tyson Fury’s comments seriously,” he told talkSPORT. “Particularly one about him fighting Dillian Whyte.
“He has said it a couple times before and when that fight has been ordered by the WBC, [he] quickly decided not to fight Dillian Whyte.

“Dillian Whyte has a massive fight at The 02 against Otto Wallin, a guy who actually should have beaten Tyson Fury because that fight should have been stopped, and that is a tough fight.
“Dillian will get his shot; if Tyson Fury wants to fight Dillian Whyte later on this year and he can deal with Deontay Wilder, we are all over that fight.
“AJ will likely fight early next year, we would hope that to be the undisputed fight, but if Fury wants a little run out in the meantime and if Dillian can beat Otto Wallin, we are open for business!”
