Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has questioned Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo’s use of Harry Kane, after back-to-back 3-0 defeats.
After three wins in three games at the start of the season, two disappointing results against Crystal Palace and Chelsea have seen Spurs slide down the Premier League table.
Ahead of the north London derby on Sunday, which could see Arsenal overtake Nuno’s side in the table, Parlour has questioned why Spurs’ key man Kane is playing out of position.
The ex-midfielder, who was a key part of the Gunners’ Invincibles side, told talkSPORT: “People will argue, as well, ‘Why is Harry Kane on the left-hand side?’ He’s the main man!
“[Heung-Min] Son usually plays out – why has he changed Kane and Son? I don’t get that, to be honest with you.
“Kane was coming very deep as usual. [Dele] Alli’s got his opportunity again, he didn’t have a great game but he’s certainly got a chance now.”
Parlour also highlighted Spurs’ need for a midfielder who can create more chances for their attacking players.
They have scored just three goals in five games this season, with Kane – who bagged 23 last season – yet to get off the mark.
Tanguy Ndombele came back into the Tottenham starting XI for their defeat to Chelsea but even so, they lack a playmaker like they had in Christian Eriksen.
Harry Winks and Giovani Lo Celso are other players that could potentially play that role, but Parlour believes the north Londoners need to strengthen.
“I just think a ball-playing midfielder is what they’re missing, aren’t they? I mean, they’re not getting enough service to Son,” Parlour added.
“We all know Son and Kane, when they’re on form, they could be in most sides because that’s how good they are.”
