Manchester United will turn their attention to the Premier League as they host Aston Villa in the early kick-off on Saturday.
United were knocked out of the cup by David Moyes’ West Ham midweek and will be looking to have their first team back in rotation.
But the clash at Old Trafford could come at the perfect time for United with a few injury worries in their squad. Here’s the latest…
Amad Diallo
The Ivorian was meant to be sent out on loan this summer in order to get some much needed first-team minutes.
Yet a thigh injury ended a potential move to Dutch club Feyenoord.
Amad is still unavailable for the game against Aston Villa and is not expected to be back until after the international break in October.
Edinson Cavani
The Uruguay forward could return for the game against Villa.
Cavani has missed multiple key fixtures against Newcastle United, Young Boys and West Ham after picking up a knock during training.
However he could return to contention for Solskjaer’s side in a partnership with Ronaldo as suggested by the boss himself.
Marcus Rashford
The striker is back in training following surgery on a shoulder injury.
Rashford played a role in England’s Euro 2020 campaign but opted to undergo surgery during in pre-season which he is currently recovering from.
Solskjaer gave an update on the 23-year-old to club media as he said: “I don’t think we’ll see Marcus until after the international break but Alex (Telles) has worked well and will be in the squad as well.”
Phil Jones
A long-term absentee.
Phil Jones has been suffering with a knee injury and has been out of action for around 18 months as a result.
However, Solskjaer has confirmed Jones will be included in his squad tonight.
Alex Telles
An ankle injury has kept the left-back out of action since pre-season after he started to show signs of battling Luke Shaw for a place in the team.
He made a return to action in midweek against West Ham and should be back in rotation again.
