Amara Raja Batteries Limited’s profit
before tax (PBT) of the company stood at Rs 1.67 billion for Q1 of the
financial year 2021-22.
The revenue for the same period was Rs
18.85 billion and Earnings per Share was Rs 7.26. It was seen that despite the
lockdowns the demand across the product segments in both the segments naming
industrial and automotive remained strong. As compared to the last year, the
automotive business revenue grew because of strong growth in Exports and OEMs.
Other than this, there has been good growth in Telecom and UPS applications as
well.
According to Jayadev Galla, Vice Chairman
& Managing Director and CEO, Amara Raja Batteries Limited, it is true that
due to the Covid lockdowns there has been uncertainty in the product take-off,
but the company is focused on ensuring that the products are available across
all the market segments. She also explained that the company is preparing
itself for future opportunities in both energy storage and e-mobility
applications. The company is also trying to maximize the value of the lead-acid
business by making a selective investment in the expansion of the product
portfolio and the geographies.
Meanwhile, the Founder-Chairman, Dr
Ramachandra N Galla retired on August 14 after 36 years of peerless service.
According to Galla, he has transferred all organizational responsibilities to
Jayadev Galla, Vice Chairman & MD-CEO. He assured all shareholders and
other stakeholders that the Company is in safe hands. He also expressed his
gratitude towards all stakeholders who have stood by the Company through tough
times like the ongoing pandemic. He also didn’t fail to mention that he will be
available in case any guidance or counsel is required from his side in the
future.
