Pune/Mumbai, Aug 24 (UNI) Union Minister Narayan Rane on Tuesday moved the Bombay High Court and pleaded to quash all the FIRs filed by the Shiv Sainiks over the controversial statement involving Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
The former Shiv Sena CM approached the High Court after his anticipatory bail plea was rejected by the Ratnagiri court.
So far, cases have been filed against the minister in the districts of Aurangabad, Thane and Nashik.
Acting on the complaint, a team from the Nashik Police is headed to arrest the minister who is currently attending the Jan Ashirwad rally in the Konkan region.
The police have asked SP Ratnagiri to take Narayan Rane into custody till their arrival.
Advocate Aniket Nikam has moved the Bombay High Court on behalf of Narayan Rane with a plea seeking quashing of the FIRs against the Minister.
The advocate said that he will also seek relief from any coercive action against his high-profile client.
Coming out in support of his party member, Devendra Fadnavis said, "I would like to tell the police that they should behave as per the law.”
