JIND: A 12-year-old village girl in Haryana's Jind district has had the honour of inaugurating a flyover, bridging the gap in more ways than one as the usual VIP suspects from the BJP-JJP coalition remain barred from entering many villages of the state because of a farmer backlash. Residents of Pandu Pindara village along the Jind-Gohana-Sonipat road took it upon themselves to complete the inauguration formality once the much-needed flyover was completed around 10 days ago. "We didn't take the risk of inviting any BJP-JJP leader to inaugurate the flyover because of the circumstances. This was conveyed to the district administration. We instead got a daughter of the village, Khushi Lakra, to cut the ribbon. Commuters had been waiting for the opening of the flyover for long," said Satish Kumar, a native of Pandu Pindara. BJP-JJP ministers and other prominent functionaries of either party haven't been able to enter Jind district for nine months since farmer organisations protesting against the three contentious farm laws decided to boycott them.
