Since taking Kabul, the Taliban have taken on a more moderate stance, declaring that they want peace, would not seek vengeance against former adversaries and will respect women's rights within the confines of Islamic law. But the fact is nobody trusts the statements by the Taliban yet. Because the action and talks are irrelevant to each other.

Prime minister Narendra Modi has directed the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to update the floor leaders of political parties on the events in war-torn afghanistan, according to External Affairs minister S Jaishankar. Meanwhile, the Taliban have warned that any delay in the departure of US forces from afghanistan will have negative implications for the US, and the august 31 deadline has been set as a red line for the Taliban. US Vice President Joe Biden had stated that US forces might remain in Kabul after august 31 to assist with the evacuation of civilians.
