Butler County crash: Child killed, 5 injured in St. Clair Township
One child died and five others were injured after a two-vehicle crash on Monday in Butler County.
A Dodge minivan was traveling westbound on West Taylor School Road in St. Clair Township and failed to stop for a stop sign at the Eaton Road intersection, according to the Butler County Sheriff's Office.
The minivan was struck by a 2017 Dodge Ram pickup that was traveling southbound on Eaton Road.
Two occupants were ejected from the van and thrown into a field, a press release stated.
One child, age 9, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 14-year-old suffered severe injuries and was transported by Careflight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, a release stated.
The female adult driver of the van, age 56, and another passenger, age 15, were transported by ambulance to Fort Hamilton. A fifth passenger, an adult male, declined treatment at the scene for minor, visible injuries.
The driver of the pickup declined treatment at the scene but self-transported to Fort Hamilton for evaluation for minor, visible injuries.
The Butler County Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and is investigating.
Officials say that drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this crash.
