Nagpur, Aug 24 (UNI) Following a snowballing controversy over Union Minister Narayan Rane’s comment against Chief Minister, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment and BJP's cabinet colleague Ramdas Athawale on Tuesday said Rane didn't intend to insult Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and added that he(Rane) will soon clear his stand on his statement.
A massive political firestorm erupted in Maharashtra over Rane's remarks about 'slapping' Mr Thackeray for what he claimed as the latter’s ignorance of the year of India’s independence.
Rane only meant that Thackeray is not doing anything for the development of Maharashtra and he seldom comes out of his residence "Matoshree" in Mumbai to understand the problems faced by the people, said Athawale, who was in Nagpur on Tuesday.
Further, Mr Athawale said that Rane meant that such a chief minister does not have the right to occupy the chair and it was his (Rane's feeling) and nothing more , the Republican leader said.
Earlier, in the morning, a group of Sena workers were seen throwing stones at the BJP office in Nagpur.
In a bid to avert any untoward incident in Nagpur, Police deployed heavy bandobast at BJP office in the city.
