It's fair say that the Range Rover Sport SVR has been a considerable success since its introduction in 2015. Not purely from a sales perspective - though more than 20,000 units of a flagship model is no mean feat - but from the image point of view as well. As the first model it had to set out the SVR stall for others to follow, and did so supremely well: it was fast, great to drive, luxurious, decent off road, sounded brilliant and looked smart as well. Now, with the end very much in sight for both the L405 Range Rover and this L494 Range Rover Sport, time is up for the SVR as well - the Ultimate is its farewell salute.
Like the Range Rover Ultimate revealed earlier this year, the SVR equivalent ups the glam for the 575hp Sport. That means two exclusive paint choices - Maya Blue Gloss and Marl Grey Gloss, with "spectacular glass flake base coats for an intense star-like sparkle" - as well as Fuji White details, black Range Rover lettering, a black roof, black 22-inch wheels and brake calipers painted you know what. More conservative buyers can opt for Ligurian Black outside.
The interior receives more black, with newly anodised metal gearshift paddles and a recommended colour scheme of Ebony and Cirrus. Additional details include "specially commissioned chrome-finished SV Bespoke B-pillar badges", Ultimate illuminated treadplates and a commissioning plaque. There seems little danger of forgetting what the premium has been spent on.
Speaking of which, the SVR Ultimate is on sale now, priced from £123,900 - or almost £20k more than standard SVR. A car will be at Salon Prive, along with personalisation experts for prospective customers, and the Ultimate is available to order in dealers now as well. At which point it would be remiss for us not to mention how relatively affordable used SVRs now look; you'll go without chrome badges or elaborate accents, but it's pretty hard to argue with 550hp for £50,000...
