Noida/Ghaziabad: In order to take stock of the preparations made for a possible third wave of Covid, the state government has asked all districts to conduct drills at government hospitals on August 27.
During the exercise, arrangements in government hospitals will be closely monitored by nodal officers appointed by the state government.
In Ghaziabad, the drill has been planned at the District Combined Hospital and ESIC Hospital and an additional director from Meerut division will oversee the arrangements. A 20-page checklist related to staff strength, training details, source of oxygen supply and medicines will be taken into consideration, officials have said.
In Gautam Budh Nagar, the drill would be conducted at four community health centres (CHCs) in Bisrakh, Bhangel, Dadri and Jewar and the Noida Covid Hospital in Sector 39. A training session for doctors was held on Monday and another has been planned for Tuesday.
Dr Sanjay Teotia, District Combined Hospital, Ghaziabad, chief medical superintendent, said: “The drill will focus on handling of a child from the time of admission to discharge. A dummy would be used as a patient and the exercise will include wheeling it into the hospital, shifting to a ward, providing critical health services to a patient, administering oxygen through HFNC (high-flow nasal cannula) and BiPAP, giving medicines, making arrangements for a child’s parents in the hospital and providing post-Covid advice to them.”
