Jessica Mauboy reveals why she's worried about her niece, 17, following in her footsteps after her incredible blind audition on The Voice
The Voice Australia coach Jessica Mauboy has revealed how she really feels about her niece Saraya Mauboy-Hudson's musical aspirations.
She admitted on The Kyle & Jackie O Show on Monday she was apprehensive about Saraya, 17, following in her footsteps after her impressive blind audition last week.
'I've always known she wanted to be in the music industry, and I think this is a hard thing for anyone who knows someone who wants to be in the industry, because once you've experienced it, you're a little bit "umm" and "ahh" about it,' she said.

'You have your views and you have your things that you don't like about it. So you want to be very careful about what you're sharing with the people you love, because you also want them to be able to grow and experience all kinds of things, whether it's the negative or positive,' the 32-year-old singer added.
'I mean, they go equally with each other.'
Jessica admitted she had no idea Saraya was auditioning for The Voice, and was shocked to see her standing on stage during the blind auditions.
'For me, I never knew that she wanted to take on that level of performance and be on a show,' she said.

'It was really surprising, but also I felt really proud as an aunty. She's never asked me for advice, so it was really crazy to see her up there.'
Before her audition on The Voice, Saraya admitted she'd never performed in front of her famous aunt before, shyly admitting she's 'not very out there'.
After managing to turn Jessica's chair with her stunning rendition of Rihanna's Stay, Saraya left the Little Things star momentarily lost for words.

As her chair spun around to the face the stage, Jessica looked stunned to see her niece standing in front of her.
'Oh my God! What's going on?' she said, putting her hand to her heart as she broke down in tears.
'She's my niece,' a proud Jessica finally managed to choke out, leaving the other coaches equally surprised.
