Several taxpayers and users found it difficult to file their ITR on the platform and pointed out the flaws. For two days in connection with these failures, the income tax portal had been unavailable. After Infosys had notified a message, the portal was back today. In reality, the FM and Infosys officials had the second such meeting. Earlier, in the meeting with Infosys officers on 22 june, FM Sitharaman had discussed the topic of fixing portal problems.

  

Technical glitches, a brief study!

The new revenue tax portal provides taxpayers with a number of helpful features for a smooth submission. These include pre-completed income tax return forms, ITR processing, complimentary software for IT preparation, a single dashboard, different payment choices and fast reimbursements. Nevertheless, since the site started, taxpayers and consultants face a series of technical failures that led to prolonged ITR filing time and time lag processing.

Taxpayers have reported several erroneous information being received from the website. In some cases, the ITR recognition of the portal generated by a return filed by the user indicates that the ITR is not filed for a few days. As one tax consultant pointed out on a popular news website, FORM 10A filed by the indian non-profit agency for further disabling access to key data, such as balance sheet details, under Section 12A of the Income Tax Law. If the evaluator is not diligent, without these details its forms can be denied.

Can deadline extension be expected?

The central board of direct tax (CBDT) would likely extend the date for filing returns and other comparable deadlines such as that of filing Form 11a for the assessment year 2021-22 instead of these failures, which are considered by tax experts and advisors (FY21). Tax specialists are of the opinion that the failures have resulted in the amount of hours required to file tax returns being increased. Many have postponed their filing deadlines, in anticipation of the problems to be fixed in several weeks.

An extension of the tax deadline also would alleviate the anxieties of many tax payers and consultants who have waited for a seamless experience before filing.
