Tyre burst leads to deaths of four police constables on national highway in Srikakulam

A tyre of the vehicle in which they were travelling burst and hit the road divider. The vehicle then plunged to the other side of the road and was hit by a lorry coming from the opposite direction.

VIJAYAWADA: Four Armed Reserve police constables of the Andhra Pradesh State Police were killed in a road accident on the Itchapuram-Srikakulam national highway in Srikakulam district on Monday.

According to information reaching here, the constables were returning to the district headquarters of Srikakulam town after attending the final rites of an Army jawan near Itchapuram. As they neared Palasa, one of the tyres of the Bolero vehicle in which they were travelling burst and hit the road divider.

The vehicle plunged to the other side of the road and was hit by a lorry coming from the opposite direction leading to the deaths of the constables.

Their bodies were retrieved from the badly mangled vehicle and shifted to the government general hospital at Srikakulam.
